The GenetiKid DNA Collection Kit can be stored at home in room temperatures for decades and maintain complete preservation of the DNA sample. The DNA paper lysis cells on contact and does not allow viruses or bacteria to grow. It’s easy to use, just swab the inside of a child’s mouth and rub it onto the sample area of the isolation card and you’re done! This DNA technology is patented and widely used in crime labs, by state and local police agencies, hospitals, and in other applications that require the long-term storage of DNA. Historically, successful storage and recovery of DNA required test tubes, hazardous buffers, ultra-low freezers, and expensive storage media. Fingerprint America however, has been able to successfully demonstrate that DNA can be stored at room temperature for years and remain stable for analysis. In fact, this product may be helpful in the future with decoding to predict disease and to help with customized drug therapies at some point in the child’s life.
